Go beyond the basics as you build the fundamental skills for setting gemstones through a measured process that includes plenty of practice to help you gain confidence as you build this important (and sometimes challenging) skill.
Level 1
- Focuses on hammer setting round and oval gemstones in heavy bezels and cast mountings. Includes a review of thin bezel wire and tube setting techniques, then moves on to prepare and practice use of gravers, punches, pushers and burs.
- Prerequisite: Introduction to Silversmithing & Intermediate Silversmithing: Level 1 (or instructor approval
Level 2
- Focuses on setting an oval faceted stone in a cast mounting and flush setting round faceted stones.
Level 3
- Focuses on square and angular gemstone settings.

Please do not come to class high (this includes, but is not limited to marijuana and/or alcohol). This is important on many levels, but quite simply:
- It makes technical communication difficult at best.
- Many of the tools and chemicals we use can be dangerous if not used properly.
COVID protocol:
Since there has been an uptick in cases, please make sure to keep a mask in your toolbox. At the very least you'll use it when you're polishing.
Also, if you have traveled recently, please consider getting tested and wearing a mask in class until you test negative for COVID.
